HMS Albion is one of the Royal Navy’s two amphibious assault ships with a mission to deliver the punch of the Royal Marines ashore by air and sea.

IndigoFitness were tasked with designing, manufacturing and installing onboard in less than 6 weeks. 

The Solution

The external mounted framework needed to include two squat bays, with an additional utility post for the use of rack mounted attachments such as a dip, step and single leg roller, in order for larger groups to be trained effectively and to cover off all major movements. All frameworks required extensive pre-treatment and coating to withstand exposure to the marine environment.

Internally, all physical training equipment needed to be stored in secure locations, utilising our RN Bespoke locking mechanisms to avoid movement or damage during rough seas. Our racking system ensures all equipment can also dry properly after use to increase its life span, an important consideration when exposed to damp and salty sea air.

We designed in additional function to the basic cargo door jammer, by enabling it to be used for heaves, but also the ability to dock in the CrossFit Wall Ball targets incorporating our pressure clamp system.

With the Deck Box being positioned at the fore ship, it had to be coated in the same grey as the ship in order to blend in and appear as one. All branding was internal to further disguise its presence.
