Leigh Sports Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, physical activity, education, health and leisure that serves the whole community. The brief for IndigoFitness was to create a high-performance training space that will be used by both Leigh Centurions, Manchester United Women’s Team and local high-performance teams and athletes.
The Situation
Leigh Sports Village required a versatile and high-performance training space that could accommodate multiple sports teams. The project faced a critical challenge as the facility was located on the first floor. IndigoFitness needed to minimise noise and vibrations that could disrupt neighboring rooms and offices during training sessions using their acoustic gym flooring solutions.
The Solution: Flooring Focus
With the gym being on the first floor, there was a flooring requirement to reduce the sound and vibrations travelling to neighbouring rooms and offices.
IndigoFitness addressed the unique challenge of sound and vibration control by installing 51mm duraSOUND rubber acoustic fitness tiles. These tiles are specifically engineered to dramatically reduce sound transmission from heavy weight drops, minimising low-frequency impact noise by up to 38 dB. This enhancement significantly improves the acoustic experience for athletes and ensures minimal disruption to neighbouring businesses. The premium flooring solution was also specified to protect the sub-floor.
To ensure a seamless infinity floor finish, the custom branded 13m long TurFlex turf track was built up to the same height as the duraSOUND tiles as were the personalised Graphix platforms.
