PlayerMade – High Performance Personal and Team Training Space

PlayerMade contacted Indigo Fitness looking to create a high-performance base out of which to coach personal training clients, which consist largely of young, talented footballers from the East Midlands professional football teams academies such as Leicester City, Derby County, and Nottingham Forest.

From the beginning, PlayerMade stressed that quality and attention to detail, both in the design of the space and the equipment, were vitally important to achieving their ideal end product; A truly multi-functional space was required to cater for the wide ranging exercises and they wanted to carry out. A large area of artificial grass with markings was top of the list, due to the combination of functional training and specific football skills training that were needed, closely followed by an area for strength work.

The Situation

Indigo proposed a 4m wide area of 32mm DuraTRAIN premium flooring tiles for the whole of the lifting and free weights area, combined with two integrated oak lifting platforms. A 5.5m wide multi use turf was laid in the rest of the space, constructed using various layers of shock absorbing materials and topped with hard-wearing, non-directional artificial turf.

Due to the limited space available it was important to maximise every single bit of space that was available. With this in mind, a bespoke Monster Storage unit was designed to store all of the small equipment.

The Solution

Every single piece of manufactured equipment was finished with a bespoke black and yellow colour scheme and the integrated platforms were finished with the Playermade logo. The Indigo Fitness team completed the installation of the entire facility, including all flooring, wall fixings, and equipment assembly.

The Success

Feelfit Gym in Cowley, Oxford, is the City’s largest gym with over 30,000 sq. ft. spread over 2 floors. They took advantage of the lockdown period to renovate and refresh, with the goal of creating something new and exiting in time for when they could welcome members back.

Feelfit’s functional area was dated and uninspiring, with a standalone rig, separate storage units and worn out track. Being near the entrance it was a valuable space but, was underused by members and did not provide the club with the engagement or ‘wow factor’ they thought it deserved.
