The Situation

A proposed new PureGym site in Gloucester was to be located in a retail park, with shops located both behind and next to the gym. For the site to go ahead, PureGym had to demonstrate that when weights were being dropped in the gym that they didn’t exceed the ambient sound level in the adjacent shops. PureGym commissioned independent consulting firm M-EC Consulting Development Engineers to carry out sound assessments at the Gloucester site and subsequently on the whole range of DuraTRAIN tiles (32mm, 51mm, and 70mm). They concluded that the 70mm tiles clearly passed the test criteria for Gloucester and said “DuraTRAIN has been shown to significantly reduce floor impact noise being transmitted through the building structure, mitigating disturbance to adjoining occupiers.”
